PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
The Delavan Police Department, along with the Delavan Fire Department want you to be safe in this upcoming storm season. Here are some important tips to remember:
The first Tuesday of each month, the tornado siren will be tested at 10:00 am provided there are no storm threats during that time. Do not rely along on the outdoor warning system. It is important that you always have a backup plan such as a weather radio, portable radio with battery backup, emergency alerts on your smart phones, the CODE RED ALERT program offered by the City of Delavan, and your local TV and radio stations.
Other things to consider, a WATCH means that conditions are favorable for severe weather. A WARNING means that severe weather is occurring or is about to occur, and you should seek safe shelter. Also, we ask that the public try to stay home after a severe storm to allow crews and emergency services to make sure the roads and community are safe for travel.
