Delavan Parks

There are three parks in Delavan owned and maintained by the City of Delavan, each with unique features and activities.
Delavan Lake Park, located at 400 E First Street, is the largest of the city's parks with beautiful rolling acres of grassy areas peppered with mature trees and a creek that winds through the park. There are two lakes, a ball diamond, children's playground, two pavilions, an outdoor amphitheater, and a sand volleyball court.  A paved walking path bordering the north side of the park and public fishing in both lakes are accessible year around.  The park shelters can be reserved during the summer months for picnics, family reunions and other activities.  The amphitheater is used for the summer children's theater and for special events, such as weddings.  There is no charge for the use of any of the Lake Park facilities.
Veterans' Memorial Park, previously known as the City Park, is located at Fourth and Elm Streets and features a gazebo, basketball court, children's play equipment, and a pavilion.  As it's name implies, this park features a military theme with the presence of a howitzer and Civil War, WW I, WW II, Korean and Vietnam Conflict memorials.  During the summer months, evening band concerts are held here by the Pekin Park Concert Band, under the direction of local resident Steve Skinner.  These concerts are sponsored by the late Glenn Allen Trust Fund.
Thomas J. Vonachen Memorial Park located at 400 W Fifth Street has a ball diamond, tennis courts, and play equipment.  The school and park district summer leagues utilize this park for their baseball programs.  The park is named for long-time Police Chief, the late Thomas J. Vonachen.

Park Shelter Reservations

To reserve a Lake Park shelter, contact the City Clerk at (309) 244-7146.  Reservations are made on a first call basis.  Both shelters offer electricity and plenty of picnic tables for any kind of family or organization event.  There is no charge to use the park facilities.

The shelter at the Veterans' Memorial Park is used on a first-come first-served basis.  During the summer months, a Farmers' Market is held every Saturday morning at the shelter for vendors in the areas to show and sell their vegetables from the garden.
